Man's Adventure in Outer Space

On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin, a Major in the Soviet Air Force, was the first man to float in space. His space ship, called Vostok, orbited round the Earth for 1 hour 48 minutes.

On July 16, 1969, Apollo 11 was lauched from Cape Kennedy, USA, with three astronauts on board, Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin Aldrin.

After the spaceship landed there on July 20th, Neil Armstrong was the first man to set foot on the moon. As he placed the American flag on the surface of the moon, Armstrong said, `It`s a small step for a man, but giant stride for humanity`.

The three astronauts returned safely to earth, after the splashdown they were taken on board the aircraft carrier Hornet.

Actually Armstrong said:"that's one small step for a man, one/but giant leap for mankind".It's still not sure, if it's "one giant leap" or "but giant leap".
